Safeguarding

Last updated: October 2026

DT Physio Ltd is committed to protecting the safety and wellbeing of people receiving our services.

Safeguarding concerns may include physical, psychological, sexual or financial abuse, neglect, self-neglect, domestic abuse, coercion, exploitation or other circumstances in which a person may be at risk of harm.

Responding to Safeguarding Concerns

DT Physio takes safeguarding concerns seriously. Where a concern is identified during physiotherapy or is raised by a patient, relative, carer or another person, it will be considered and appropriate action taken.

Depending on the circumstances, this may include discussing the concern with the patient, contacting an appropriate healthcare or care professional, making a referral to the relevant local authority safeguarding service, or contacting the emergency services or police where necessary.

Where there is an immediate risk of serious harm or a medical emergency, emergency services may be contacted.

Confidentiality and Information Sharing

Safeguarding concerns will be handled sensitively and confidentially.

Where appropriate, the patient's wishes and consent will be considered when deciding whether information should be shared.

However, there may be circumstances where information needs to be shared without consent, including where this is required by law, necessary to protect the patient or another person from serious harm, or otherwise justified in the public interest.

Only information that is relevant and necessary will be shared.

Patients, relatives, carers and professionals are encouraged to raise any safeguarding concerns promptly.
